31 Micah (3)

A fight of faith

Micah 3:5-8
T Timothy 6: 11-14
T Against a trend of the world

We have looked at Chapter 2 where Micah accused a crime of landowners of south Judah kingdom, last week. It will apply to tribal head, prophets, kings, and the other leaders who are said in Chapter 3. It is said that Chapter 3 will be part of public speaking of Micah who was accused by landowner and leaders and drawn by a court, but I want to look at Verse 5-8 which tells about prophets from those, this morning.

The prophet who was bribed for money by landowners probably was taken up at Verse 2:11. "If a man walking after win and falsehood had told lies and said, 'I will speak out to you concerning wine and liquor,' he would be spokesman to this people.". "Concerning wine and liquor"; is it said about the situation that they are siting down in the seat of a banquet with an employer? The message of Micah for such a false prophet is shown in this Verse 3:5-8. "Thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who lead my people astray; when they have something to bite with their teeth, they cry, 'Peace,' but against him who puts nothing in their mouths, they declare holy war." (3:5) "Something to bite with their teeth," "who puts nothing in their mouths,"; it is the same as "concerning wine and liquor", and he tells a good message of taste to the person who quenches a breast of oneself, but to poor person, and the people who give nothing to them showing antipathy, he threatened them thus; "an evil comes over". "Prophets"; it is a plural number, but perhaps it will show a prophet group for the purpose of such a living in the world. They seemed to be servants of some leaders and acted as an apple-polisher. I do not know how many prophet's groups were there, but, as for their having played such a clown without shame, there would be a lot of similar people on the circumference and their conscience would be paralyzed. And such people was increasing than the prophet group proper, and it would be a trend in the times. It falls on the much history that a church has become the minion of power. Micah heard their message, but they also heard a message of Micah who has begun to tell it in a court of Jerusalem, and they resisted it. Declaration of war for such them; I think this was a message of here, but I wish it will not be piled up in our church of the present age.

U For words of the cross

"Therefore it will be night for you -without vision, and darkness for you -without divination. The sun will go down on the prophets, and the day will become dark over them. The seers will be ashamed and the diviners will be embarrassed. Indeed, they will all cover their mouths because there is no answer from God." (6-7) This is a severe condemnation sentence of Micah for the prophets who rose in a deception. Even if no matter how much they demand them, but vision and divination from God are never given to them; and "The sun will go down on the prophets, and the day will become dark over them.", it will be that they can not work as a prophet anymore. When a prophet to pass on words of God loses sight of words of God, there will not be the significance of their being anymore. It is asked whether we are really expiated by the cross of Jesus and whether there is Jesus as the Messiah in our church of the present age. A church of Jesus Christ should continue taking words of a cross, and I wish to continue standing in myself that place well.

Vision and divination; would it be a form which said that prophets received a message from God? The article which prophets become a kind of ecstasy state and hear a message from God; it appears in each place of the Old Testament. Unfortunately such a phenomenon to be accompanied with an illusion and a divine message is beyond our understanding, but it is not the center of prophecy what kind of form will be will of God; it will be that it should be asked what words of God they asked tell to us. However, I want to take up the illusion that seems to be some mysterious experience, here. There is it in Amos in this way. "'What do you see, Amos?' And I said, 'A basket of summer fruit.' Then the Lord said to me, 'The end has come for My people Israel. I will spare them no longer.'"2 (8:2). When he watched fruit of summer of one basket which was about to rot, he heard a message from God symbolized Israeli corruption. It would not be a hallucinatory kind, but would be that he has heard words of God visually. Prophets put their heart and soul by the night and performed a request, fortune-telling by an illusion eagerly, and showed the behavior as if there was really a message from God now. However, it was only simple appearances, and they did not have an answer from God. When we greet the times of the end, shall we say that people like them do not appear? We must be careful.

V A fight of faith

Micah lectured a prophet entrusted with a message from God is a genuine article, while he is doing an imitation and condemnation of prophets telling the message that an employer likes, and he would testify that he was a genuine prophet called by God in front of them, false prophets, in a court of Jerusalem. "On the other hand I am filled with power- with the Sprit of the Lord- and with justice and courage to make known to Jacob his rebellious act, even to Israel his sin." (8) Micah clarified that he was called by God to convey that there was a crime in Israel. It shows that Micah belongs to the genealogy of the prophet called by God in this time. "Jacob, Israel"; it seems to emphasize and say by repeating itself, both are the same south kingdom. As for the then prophets, Isaiah, Hosea, and Amos told almost the same message with Micah. They were not able to bring profit to the people of Israel at all by telling it. But rather, it may be said that Hosea continued telling a message of God while pouring his own income. Both Amos and Micah are similar. It seems that there are many business clergymen thinking that they found their jobs in a completed big church in this present age, but there are many things that we must learn from their prophet's isolated posture, I think.

At the end, I want to touch grounds of Micah that he is a prophet called by God. It is the place that he insists on that "I am filled with power- with the Spirit of the Lord- and with justice and courage," (8). Above all, Micah was satisfied by Spirit of God. And Micah was satisfied by power, justice (righteousness), courage of the Lord, and challenged a man of power of world to a fight. This article remind of disciples of the apostle times. Above all, it depended on a work of Spirit of the Lord that they built up their first church. And it is the promise of the Lord that Holy Spirit will be as our helper in our immediate side until the time when Jesus comes once again. Because we have that promise, we can tell the salvation of the cross and accuse a crime of the world, with courage, even though we are unreliable so weakly. We must not forget the history of 2000 that our seniors of faith believing Jesus succeeded it to the present age. Perhaps the more more absurdity things will be filled in the world and church from now on. While satisfying by the same Spirit, we want to be such a person, because we are called by this purpose. "Fight the good fight with of faith; take hold of the eternal life" (1 Timothy 6:12); (1 Timothy 6:12). Don't you think so?
