Whom prophet's eyes turned to

T What is it isolated in?

 It is the eighth of Isaiah, and there is a little Part 1 now. I will sort contents of Part 1 around here. Though it is rough, but it seems to be three copies composition of the prophecy of judgement to Judah and Jerusalem in Chapter 1-12, the oracle against the various foreign countries in Chapter 13-23 and the prophecy of the salvation in Chapter 24-35. Chapter 36-39 is a quotation from Ukings Chapter 18-20, and it will be watched with outside the limit of 3 parts of composition. We looked at the place which was called "the Apocalypse of Isaiah" from the third division (Chapters 24-27) last week, but at there, it was told that God invite the people of the whole world for his salvation at the end, and the sight of gratitude and praise will arise before God. The Lord is going to contact us with His truth, and, to that truth of our Lord, how shall we do reply of faith? It sounds like one is to be witnesses of our Lord, and another is to offer worship heartily to the Lord.

 In 28-35 chapters remainder of Part 3, some plans of salvation of the Lord is clarified. I want to hear a message of Isaiah told to there with dividing it into some times. It is from Chapter 28-29, this morning.

 "The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim is trodden under foot."(28:3), it begins a sentence of Isaiah to north kingdom from here. Perhaps it was told on a seat of a banquet opened in a palace of Ahaz. An alliance with Assyria works, and the Silja/Ephraim allied forces which attacked Jerusalem reverses itself, and they are threatened from the rear by the Assyria armed forces. It may have been toast of that purpose. Surely the high officials of the south kingdom will have repeated toast with pleasure for listening to that message. However, the eyes of Isaiah were turned to not the falling north kingdom, but high officials of south kingdom floated by a banquet now. The disgraceful behavior which can't be said as their leader is denounced. It is here, "And these also reel with wine and stagger from strong drink; The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, They are confused by wine, they stagger from strong drink; They reel while having visions, They totter when rendering judgment."(28:7 -8). The persons watching an illusion will be false prophets, they degrade themselves in their drum wear, and with the person who beats judgment will be Rabbi and elders. What will it be isolated in? They abandon even their duties and, they do not stand justly before God and people, either.


U A dirge of a prophet

 However, they did not try to make it serious what this young prophet says with so severe criticism. "To whom would He interpret the message? And to whom would He interpret the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just taken from the breast?"(9). Their bluff talking that we are not babies rises here. They say in Verse 10, and the words that Isaiah repeats with full of irony in Verse 13 are interesting. "TSAW LA TSAW TSAW LA TSAW QAW LA QAW QAW LA QAW"(新共同訳) It seems the state that a drunken man mutters the word which have no meaning in here and there. This is meaning that "Oder on order, Line on line.", but the message of God that Isaiah tells only sounded just like the thing that was nagging to them. We of the present age must be careful about this enough, too. A message to often hear is not the words of God, but because it may be only felt to restrain our freedom. They would think that to depend on God is uneasy and they tie up Assyria and a handle, and even security of the moment will be more better than God. It is here "We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we have made a pact. The overwhelming scourge will not reach us when it passes by, For we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception."(15). Will it be such a thing that the Japanese government concluded a hand with strong U.S.A.?

 "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed."(16) it is here, Isaiah will tell Immanuel/the Messiah here, too. When it is Jesus, this is quoted by Paul (Romans 9:33) and Peter (TPeter 2:8), but there is a word which looks like well in Psalms, it is here "The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner stone."(118:22). Matthew (21:42) quotes this as a thing of Jesus, but "the builders" are piled up to these Israeli leaders.

 At 29:15 the ones who were said "Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the Lord, And whose deeds are done in a dark place, And they say, 'Who sees us?'"(15) were such people. "Oh", an interjection of sadness is told repeatedly many times, but, from Chapter 28 to Chapter 33, this reaches as his pain that Isaiah himself was as leader of Israel the same as them. Include a sentence of the Chapter 28's first north kingdom extinction, we can hear this with lamentations of Isaiah.


V Whom prophet's eyes turned to?

 "Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay, That what is made should say to its maker, 'He did not make me'; Or what is formed say to him who formed it, 'He has no understanding'?"(29:16) and Isaiah grieved over them that they were made by God, but didn't to try to recognize that absolutely. It is the unbelief manner of said here, "Because this people draw near with their words, And honor Me with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me,"(29:13). We must be careful of that, too.

 However, ears of Isaiah hear the voice of people enjoying and praising God in the people who lose God, and walk in darkness. Verse 17 will be easy to understand in 新共同訳. It is here, "It is not yet just a little while Before Lebanon will be turned into a fertile field, And the fertile field will be considered as a forest?", Lebanon Mountains were known as building materials production center of the ancient east world best of Lebanon cedar, and the Solomons imported this for shrine construction, too. There is a forest of non-cleaning, but it is said that it will become a beautiful nature that God makes it, and God's hand changes it to an orchard with much crops more. Though Lebanon was one part of Silja, it was far from God as a person who fights against Israel before, but even such a place has a blessing of God and it can hear that will be the vessel of gratitude and praise.

 "And on that day the deaf shall hear words of a book, And out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see. The afflicted also shall increase their gladness in the Lord, And the needy of mankind shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel."(18-19). As for this, at "a book" (probably, words of prophecy), it was thought with people who was alienated from society of selected people of God, Israel, but they were kept away from words of God above all. At the time Isaiah received his mission, he heard the message which should be told as a prophet, that is "Render the hearts of this people insensitive, Their ears dull, And their eyes dim, Lest they see with their eyes, Hear with their ears, Understand with their hearts, And return and be healed."(6:10). So that Israeli leaders did not hear the message of salvation, he refused it. There is a person who said like this, "It is important whether you hear what should hear truly.". That will be right. When they heard it from prophets of lie, they were full of deception, supposing that was their faith to God, they were full of deception. Perhaps, about Verse 20 "the ruthless, the scorner", because it is in Verse 21 "Who cause a person to be indicted by a word", it is thought they are probably containing priests and prophets (28:7). Who trust God, and who is the one that be quiet, and listen to the Gospel? Instead of them, such declaration of prophet is heard that a foreigner and the weak people whom they alienated are added to the people of God. Would not we be such a hurt people? Eyes of Jesus are turned to such people, and Isaiah can seem to try to occur to Jesus.
