63 Isaiah / Part 2 (12)

Let's ask God with true heart

Isaiah 52:13-15
Hebrews 10:19-25
T The thorny figur

Isaiah testified in 52:1-12, "Because you watch the salvation of God, don't you sing a paean of joy together, appearing?". That salvation, Isaiah seems to stare at the salvation from a crime, but begins "song of a servant / the fourth song" to tell the salvation in detail. It is from 52:13 to 53:12, and I will decide to divide it into some. It is from 52:1-3, this morning.

It begins "Behold, My servant will prosper, He will be high and lifted up, and greatly exalted."(52:13). Paul testified this state thus, "God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,"(Philippians 2:9). Isaiah would watch the same One as Paul, between revelation of God. And he drew a figure of a bright servant, and it is right called "exaltation of a servant", but, what he was going to tell us about a figure of the glory at first, I think it was Isaiah's faith confession that wished to share the joy with us who are pleased with the salvation of God. Paul follows it in this way. "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."(Philippians 2:10-11) While we sing a paean of joy heartily because it is the salvation of the One who is achieving such a glory, we prostrate ourselves before the One and confess "I believe you". Now, we shall remember the most basic posture of such a worship, are not so?

However, we must hear His terrible suffering, to be pleased with His exaltation. It is told in Chapter 53, and it is still just only overture here, but, it promotes "So His appearance was marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men."(14) and attention to us. We must hear that His suffering attends for us. There is it "Just as many were astonished at you,". Many translations translate it "watch him", but perhaps the original will be "you". It seems "you" who is in "Awake, awake, clothe yourself in your strength"(52:1). Jerusalem that it was destroyed thoroughly by the armed forces of Babylonia, and, strangely, it was rebuilt in the times of Ezra, and was destroyed again by Rome in AD70 year. "Only the wall of sadness" which is slightly left conveys the existence of the past beautiful shrine to now, but surely, it will project our figure which was covered with crime.

U A figure of our crime

"So His appearance was marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men."(14) It is omitted in 新改訳聖書, but in the beginning, there is the word so. A figure of a servant is likened to "you" (us?). It can be hardly compared, but, it is said that "His form was not more than the sons of men." here. The thorny figure of a servant would be so horrible. I tried to imagine intention of this prophet who compared it daringly. No matter how much even if we repeated hardship, but, it may not compare with suffering of this servant. But, when we limit our figure to a crime, a figure of this servant is piled up to us. It is told that suffering of a servant "came for our crime" in Chapter 53, repeatedly. When a figure of our crime is so ugly, it seems to be necessary to pay more attention to it at first.

There is an article that seems to be equal to this "figure of a servant". It is an article that Jesus of revival met two disciples in the way to Emmaus. (Luke 24:13-35). While spending several hours together, they did not understand the One was Jesus. As for it, it seems that a state of Jesus too changed. When we regard the One's change who accepted the suffering of cross, we feel this testimony of Isaiah piled up to us at the same time. And, for the disciples who did not understand that was Jesus, they did not yet understood enough about the weight and ugliness of their crime. It may be said that they did not understand a true figure of oneself. And it is felt that it is right our figure itself. It will be to meet Jesus of a cross to notice ugliness. For such us who is especially late to realize it, a figure of a servant was lost thoroughly and presented a horrible aspect. It has been a figure of his suffering / suffering to give before only God named Father.

V Let's ask God with true heart

That ghastly figure let many people remain silent. "Thus He will sprinkle many nations, kings will shut their mouths on account of Him; for what had not been told them they will see, and what they had not heard they will understand."(15) It will be because figures of the servant exceeded far a limit of a human stupid argument. A human stupid argument, "There is not God", "Jesus Christ is not God", "Christianity is one of a number of religions after all" and "The Bible is a myth" etc., they are what have been insisted on repeatedly from old days, but now, they grew big as if that voice reached a peak. However, if we stand before this thorny servant, we cannot help being impressed by the figure of Jesus on the cross with a sincere feeling. "Kings will shout their mouths on account of Him;", it may be said such people. When this servant appeared on a history stage, Isaiah seems to say that there are Kings remaining silent in front of Him. There is it at 52:7, "Your God reigns!", but, kings hear the words and will react. Up to the present age, kings spent all their time fighting to protect and to spread their kingdom. When they hear it, "Your God reigns!" (God rules.), it is natural to become sensitive. Herod was so. Constantine was so. However, because that King is King of King (the King), He is existence of peace to gain a fight of a monarch, and it is said that He becomes King not to pass through a fight. Even if King watched it closely in the trend, it is not mysterious. However, up to the present age, the King who remained silent in front of a ghastly figure of a servant of the Lord were extremely only one part. Surely the King, they were without listening the declaration of God who sent this servant, did not realize the salvation, and spent all their time for struggle for power, but, this is our figure of modern people. However, don't we want to have such sensitivity as we lose our voice, before a thorny figure of servant of the Lord praying for our salvation?

There is it when "He will sprinkle many nations.". "Sprinkle", it is a meaning of pouring water, but it will originally image to the center of the Israel religion that priest pours blood of an animal into an altar in a shrine, and did atonement of people by "sprinkling" it. Isaiah himself was a priest. A servant of the Lord pours his blood (it means that he dies), this prophet testifies that it became his suffering as his face form changed. "King", there is a person who points out that is including a global expanse of human working, it will be right. Suffering and death of a servant of the Lord would be really heard by King of the end of the earth. Even if it does not say 100% of the world which became narrow, but, it would be listening until the corner of this Kobe. But now, it is asked how do we take it. We want to hear it, don't we? There is it thus, "Let us draw near with a sincere hearts in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water." (Hebrews 10:22).
