52 Isaiah / Part 2 (1)

Behold, your God

Isaiah 40:1-11
T Peter 1:22-25
T A new event

@I have cut off this work for a while, but enter genealogical Part 2 (Chapter 40-66) of a prophet from this morning. Even Part 1, we have heard Immanuel (Jesus) whom Isaiah showed, but it becomes still clearer with Part 2. And, with Part 2, the Babylon which became a leader of a fertile delta zone instead of Assyria appears, and the salvation of Yahweh is told on the stage. And it seems that Isaiah is going to let us of the later reach that message of salvation. There are persons who call this the second Isaiah of another person with Isaiah so that the message seems to have been written down in the inside of Babylon captivity. However, it is not so. Several years later, after he finished writing Part 1, prophet Isaiah heard a message from God again and wrote down this part. Therefore this message was able to show Jesus, too. I want to hear a plan of the such dynamic salvation of God from his new message.

@"'Comfort, O comfort My pople,' says your God. 'Speak kindly to Jerusalem; And call out to her, That her warfare has ended, That her iniquity has been removed, That she has received of the Lord's hand, Double for all her sins.'"(40:1-2) A new message of Isaiah begins with "Comfort My people.". "Solace" means "Breathing in breath with deeply". Perhaps, Isaiah will declare that a new event will begin, God blow the breath of new life to the person damaged and ached. I hear this is the central subject of Part 2. By a message of Part 1, it seems that the most part of them were occupied by scolding of God to Israel, but Isaiah heard a new message of "forgiveness" and "salvation", and it became his own solace and it would be connected to second part. There is it with "Double for all her sins.". Perhaps Isaiah oneself would feel guilty. "Double" has two meanings to say quantitative 2 times and original only copying, but, if it "doubles" it, it will be a blessing of the Lord, if it is equal times, "copying" is punishment to balance with a crime. At any rate, Isaiah feels that the eyes of the Lord decline in gentleness to the people who committed a crime. Therefore he is telling forcefully a message of forgiving and solace all the more.

U In the times of a prophet blank

@"A voice is calling, 'Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God. Let every valley be lifted up, And every mountain and hill be made low; And let the rough ground become a plain, And the rugged terrain a broad valley; Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, And all flesh will see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.'"(3-5)@The Gospel takes here that it points at John of Baptism comprising a road for Jesus. Surely, Isaiah will be going to show the Messiah while telling such a person. This "Highway" is not a returning road to Jerusalem of the people of Babylon captivity, but it is a road of glory of the Lord letting us even of the present age reach the salvation, it shows Jesus, we must hear thus. "Let every vally be lifted up, And every mountain and hill be made low; And let the rough ground become a plain, And the rugged terrain a broad valley;" We must hear both valley and mountain are ourselves.

@However, when I say directly, the message of Isaiah was solace to Jews who become captivity in Babylon and to the people who returned to Jerusalem. Because he saw north Israel kingdom being ruined by Assyria, Isaiah knew deep sorrow of people of captivity. When the same thing as it happens to people of south Judah kingdom, Isaiah realizes Jewish sorrow as if he is even in the spot of captivity at all. Not to mention their suffering, even if they are put in economically and socially terrible situation in the ground of a foreign country, the first reason was silence of God above all. Actually, in the time that Isaiah has begun to tell again, their deep despair that a cry of oneself does not reach to God is seen.

@This time was the times of a blank of prophet to pass on a message of God. Prophets of north kingdom extinction period such as Micah and Amos disappear and prophets of the next term generation, Nahum, Zephaniah, and Jeremiah appear in BC600 year nearly 50-60 years later. And Isaiah remained silent again. Surely people would feel distance with God and oneself in the long silence of prophet. Therefore, Isaiah would take it, "Call out."(6) was told to himself. The things "What shall I call out?" would have understood so, and was translated. Though there is a possibility to make this "me" to another third person, but Isaiah may pray for a lot of prophets including himself standing. Don't we of the present age want to pray so, too?

V Behold, your God

@"All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, When the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. The grass withers the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever."(6-8) This is the message which was said that Isaiah should tell it. And this time will be the times of King Manasseh that is said "Manasseh seduced them to do evil more than the nations whom the Lord destroyed before the sons of lsrael."(UKings 21:9). It was the times which was said "Manasseh shed very much innocent blood until he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; besides his sin with which he made Judah sin, in doing evil in the sight of the Lord."(UKings 21:16). Prophets who slightly stayed and thoughtful people cried to the Lord. However, here, they merely heard anger of God. (reference /UKings 21:10-15) Before anger of God, we of the present age will be only grass and the flower which die and go. No, when I watch the Iraqi War, a terrorism of each place and a dark case reported day after day, I feel that we of the present age are such people than a Jew of the Isaiah times. What kind of message will Isaiah be going to tell to such times that for one's greed, they do not mind pains of another person at all?

@"But the word of our God stand forever.", it is there. I think that we must be asked about this most. A person stamps a person and betrayals, a fight happen, and a country fights against a country, and it swells more big war. Dissatisfaction and hatred and despair seem to begin to satisfy a division of God. When the 21st century has begun to advance to a worse direction, I feel it. But will it be accelerating ruin to the road of the end? For us who step with an accelerator toward ruin full, the possibility that can change direction alone is to hear the words of God which is strange eternally. Isaiah encourages the people who are carrying words of God with "Get yourself up on a high mountain,". "Get yourself up on a high mountain, O Zion, bearer of good news, Lift up your voice mightily, O Jerusalem, bearer of good news; Lift it up, do not fear. Say to the cities of Judah, 'Here is your God!' Behold, the Lord God will come with might, With His arm ruling for Him. Behold, His reward is with Him, And His recompense before Him. Like a shepherd He will tend His flock, In His arm He will gather the lambs, And carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes."(9-11) "Bearer of good news" will be a scholar of missionary work to take the Gospel of Jesus as Gospel and Paul say.

@The Gospel is good news. Isaiah finishes saying the center of it with "Here is your God!". God is our God. I want you to think that how it is splendid. He is not a family's Buddhist altar and the gods and Buddha of a household Shinto altar worshiped by houses. He is the One who created nature, and declared that He is the One who gives power to us who weakened (latter half of Chapter 40), the true God is our God. Perhaps what is surrounded with "" will be because He oneself wrote it as words of God. That declaration is declaration of God Himself. I want to ask words of the One. Climb a high mountain. Commit all kinds of power...
