48 Isaiah / Part 1 (12)

In a paean of the one expiated

Isaiah 35:1-10
Revelation 21:27-22:5
T Anger to the one fighting against God

It is the last of Isaiah Part 1/the third division. We heard a climax of Messiah prophecy to be equal to Chapter 53 last week, as it was said "And no resident will say, 'I am sick'; The people who dwell there will be forgiven iniquity."(33:24), but that surge continues in Chapter 34-35 this morning. While Isaiah was telling this message, don't you want to watch what he heard and what was he going to watch?

"Draw near, O nations hear; and listen, O peoples! Let the earth and all it contains hear, and the world and all that springs from it."(34:1), and it begins by strong words of declaration of Isaiah. What will Isaiah be going to declare here? Primarily, it can be heard that is judgment to the one who fights against people of God. An umpire to Edom is told in verse 2-4, and an umpire to world various countries is told in Verse 5-15, but it will be an umpire to people resisting God, and to non-faith people of the whole world that assumes Edom a representative. Edom assumes older brother Esau of Jacob an ancestor, and it is the relation that may be said to be an Israeli relative, but it appears as the race which all fights against Israel. It does not say to merely Israel, but to all people fighting against God, the name of Edom is followed as a prefix. And because Isaiah shared a unique sense of prophet which was said "for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye."(Zechariah 2:8), he assumes that the one fighting against people of God is a hostility person to God himself, and the anger is turned to countries in the world. It may be said that is the one to resist, seducer, and the Satan called the snake which got old. Edom is compared by existence of such evil. When an umpire to the hostility was decided among God, we can hear it is the first declaration of Isaiah.

The the first declaration is said which begins with the terrible scene, "And all the host of heaven will wear away, And the sky will be rolled up like a scroll; All their hosts will also wither away As a leaf withers from the vine, Or as one withers from the fig tree."(4). It will be the end obviously. We must hear that it is not the later earth of several billion years and solar life which modern people think about, but the time of God is approaching close. And the footsteps approach being known more.

U The full love of God

However, His first declaration, "For the Lord's indignation is against all the nations, And His wrath against all their armies; He has utterly destroyed them, He has given them over to slaughter."(2), and it is told the state that God's intense anger runs to the whole world, but it deserves attention that it is in the past form here. Two meanings are thought about. One is the declaration that God was decided with that umpire, and another declaration is that the intense umpire does not go to successively forever. Surely both declarations will be included.

It is here, "Seek from the book of the Lord, and read; Not one of these will be missing; ... For His mouth has commanded, and His Spirit has gathered them. And He has cast the lot of for them, ... They shall possess it forever; From generation to generation they shall dwell in it."(16-17). This is a declaration of prophet assuming that God is sovereign, and it will be his faith posture. We must hear that we merely prostrate ourselves before strictness of an umpire of the sovereign. However, in here, it is told about the new opening of the people who is invited to the end of the stern umpire and the salvation of the Lord as well as it. There is it in Psalms in this way. "Thou hast taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Thy bottle; Are they not in Thy book?"(56:8). God named sovereign removes every difficulty, and it can be going to be accomplished. Can't we hear that is a decision of our salvation, and to show us that Love?

It is Chapter 35 that a lot of the love overflows. Isaiah seems to be going to complete Part 1/the third division with the full love of God. "The wilderness and the desert will be glad, And the Arabath will rejoice and blossom; Like the crocus It will blossom profusely And rejoice with rejoicing and shout of joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, The majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the glory of the Lord, The majesty of our God."(1-2), "For waters will break forth in the wilderness And streams in Arabath. And the scorched will become a pool, And the thirsty ground springs of water; In the haunt of jackals, its resting place, Grass becomes reeds and rushes."(6-7) This repetition will be because Isaiah heard this scene from God many times. Please try to compare
this shining beautiful flower garden with the scenery which has become wild cool air from intense anger of God, it seems to be here with "And the thorns shall come up in its fortified towers, Nettles and thistles in the fortified cities; It shall also be a hunt of jackals And an abode of ostriches..."(34:13-). This is new world creation of God.

V In a paean of the one expiated

"Encourage the exhausted, and strengthen the feeble. Say to those with anxious heart, 'Take courage, fear not. Behold, your God will come with vengeance; The recompense of God will come, But He will save you.' Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. Then the lame will leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb will shout for joy."(3-6) This "vengeance" means "God who hits an enemy, and rewards evils will come."(新共同訳) The eyes of Isaiah were poured all the time by such people. They were not able to meet a social life for the weakness, but more in addition, they were refused by the people of Israel society who were selection of God, then they would taste deep despair that they were far-off from God. However, there is it in law, when must be kind to such people, and originally, Israel was the race which prized weak people. It is changed gradually to the central society only of the people who are rich, and useful for King and nobles, and there is no place to stay for weak people. Would not it be the human course that walked up to the present age? The world of a strong man, that tendency seem to show still more stronger present age, too. When the welfare is "almsgiving", such consciousness appears and disappears. In fact, people Israel of Rabbi of God should have been chosen as the existence that must show gentleness of God in the such survival of the fittest-centered human being world. It has been lost. It seems that we have to try to reconsider what is gentleness of God. Isaiah would flow into them with warm eyes, when such people were near to our country of God. And I feel that same sight to Jesus.

But please remember, poor and weak people are not invited to our country by all means. "And the highway will be there, a roadway, And it will be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it, But it will be for him who walks that way, And fools will not wander on it."(8), and it is said. And, as for "Holiness", the declaration which was "The people who dwell there will be forgiven their iniquity."(33:24) is emphasized once again. And the unclean and fools are known that their crimes are not yet expiated. "But the redeemed will walk there."(9) In Revelation, "and nothing unclean and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life."(21:27), Isaiah would stare at such scene which there was. The capital, heaven that could meet Messiah Jesus there were reflected in Isaiah's eyes. "And the ransomed of the Lord will return, And come with joyful shouting to Zion, With everlasting joy upon their heads. They will find gladness and joy, And sorrow and sighing will flee away."(9-10) state that there is, dosen't it appearing the believers who are invited to Jesus in Revelation, they are pleased, and sing? And it is felt that his wishes to be expiated certainly and to enter the salvation overflowed to eyes of Isaiah. We want to repeat our thought there.
