Jeremiah 10
The word of the cross

Jeremiah 8:8-9
1 Corinthians 1:18-26
Ⅰ Though they intend to be standing

As for Chapter 8-10, the time is told in pieces, and there seems to be a part we can not understand whether it is a word of Jeremiah or of God. Relatively short messages are displayed many. For example, according to an explanatory note person, 8:4-13 says thus, "betrayal not to return", and Chapter 9 says thus, "the sadness of Jeremiah". Anyway, because a thing that has been written was burnt by anger of the king Jehoiakim (Chapter 36). Jeremiah and secretary Baruch tried again represent it the character, but probably, there would have been many things which were lost. Furthermore, it is thought that those were gathered at the time of Babylon Captivity again and the editing was carried out, but the lost part would not have been able to recover. It is natural that there is a fragmentary part in Jeremiah which is conveyed to the present. However, the part that was left was put as a thing of genuine Jeremiah here, even if it was fragmentary. It will be sure. I pick some out from here and want to hear a message of Jeremiah.

It is from 8:8-9 this morning. "How can you say, 'We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us.'? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie. The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and caught; behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord, and what kind of wisdom do they have?" This must be looked at in the phrase of Chapter 8:4-13, no, more closely, at in the phrase of Verse 4-12; I want to see it from 8-9 this morning. The problem of here is "the lying pen of scribes". Because he who took notes of this was secretary Baruch, I was surprised at his daring, but Baruch made a note of this faithfully. It is because Baruch understood the meaning of these words. Jeremiah did not say a difficult thing to understand. If listen carefully by the ears of the heart, everyone can hear and understand it like Baruch.

Jeremiah has tortured those who say that "We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us". If it depends on the Law of the Lord, Israeli people say that "we have wisdom (just not perish), it will be sure. Jeremiah nodded it, "surely so". However, the problem "is not wisdom". There is wrong there. If depending on the wisdom that they say, they cannot avoid that they fall. Because, such wisdom is not the wisdom of the Lord. Therefore Jeremiah said. "The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and caught; behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord, and what kind of wisdom do they have?" They bragged, "We have the law of the Lord". However, they have been said, "they have rejected the word of the Lord". Because they intend to stand, they are not going to hear it. It was the heart of the matter of Israel. We must look here that the wisdom they insist they have, it is not the wisdom of the Lord. It must be clarified.

Ⅱ Another law lays another wisdom

If it is so, will the former speaking which said that there is wisdom if it depends on the law of the Lord be a mistake? No, it is never a mistake. Proverbs says it in this way. "Now therefore, O sons, listen to me, for blessed are they who keep my ways. Heed instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it." (8:32-33) Surely, the wisdom dwells in the place to hear the admonition of the Lord. We may hear the admonition is instruction, the law of the Lord. Psalms says in this way, too. "Make me understand the way of Thy precepts, so I will meditate on Thy wonders." (119:27) Will you not know that the admonition of the Lord produces realization and wisdom from here? However, Jeremiah concludes you do not have its wisdom. Then, a, point that the law of the Lord insisting that they stand is not the true law of the Lord must be thought about. If it is not the law of the Lord, but only "different law", it is impossible such law produces the wisdom of the Lord. The different wisdom produces the different law. They Israel does not notice to such a matter of course. Jeremiah said, "Behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord, and what kind of wisdom do they have?". It was real nature of their deep deep darkness. It is not that they did not have it from the beginning. If they had it, there would be the pity of the Lord. But it was not so, and they "rejected" the words of wisdom, the word of the Lord..

There is it at 7:23. "Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you." "The voice" of this God seemed to point at the law. "Hear, O earth; behold, I am bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their plans, because they have not listened to My words, and as for My law, they have rejected it also." (6:19) The expression is different in various ways, but the message that God is insisted on through whole Jeremiah seems to be simply this. "The law" which is insisted here and "the law" which Israel insists; those differences must be clarified. This is the contents of "the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie.".

Ⅲ The word of the cross

Let's say plainly. The difference in these two "law" is the difference of the words of God and various rules which was documented and notified from the top to the bottom. "From the top to the bottom"; when the part head of a family, an elder, a country are organized, it has been often regarded as authority and the same class of God for a long time; like that the religious authority was notified from the upper part organization which wore king and religious authority to the organization of lower part. Because the notification system, "from the top to the bottom", was normal and general form of the human being society; in Israel, it seemed to be accepted without any resistance. Besides, if it is the notification from the religious organization which wore authority of God, it is so all the more. A certain annotator says this to be "contract festival tradition" and the opposition of "the sacrificial ceremony rule entirety". Because he make it sound formal, it will be difficult to understand it, I think; but it will be sure. The contract festival tradition, it points to the Israeli old genuine theology which God considered Israel as "people of God" through Moses. If I say more concretely, it is Moses' Ten Commandments and it means the history of salvation of the people of the Lord, and God planned it and take the form of the festival, and have been announced to Israel. But against it, it may be thought that sacrifice provisions refer to the entire ritual rule which remain in Judea still. Mishnah and Talmud fall into this category. In there, even genuine words of God including the oral have been slipped. The admonition of the Pharisee whom Jesus pointed out repeatedly is counted this. It was clarified by Jesus, but, it was not the thing which came out suddenly in the times of Jesus; it might be said that already it was in the times of Jeremiah, no, before that, it gradually undermined the faith of Israel. The message of false prophet belongs to this. When we look so, the human history itself has been always against the work of the salvation of God; and it may be said that it produced opposition axles consistently. People Israel of the selection of God is no exception, too. We human being walked the history that came against God thoroughly. Even if I say that it was history of human, it is not exaggeration.

I would step more and say more plainly; as for the way to assume the Gospel religion, it may be said that it is "a false logos" all. Essence of religion seems to be there. It is the risk to change Bible itself to "a false logos"; we must pay attention to it. Without regard to the meaning of the Bible or the lexical and context, use it as his opinion there from the beginning, and use it as an authority, such as force; it will be a typical example. The Gospel of Jesus is not at all such a thing. The words of God, it is no doubt Jesus Himself. This is to say to myself, but I want to walk its way in modesty as looking up to Him.
