T The genealogy of prophets

It was what I mentioned the genealogy of prophets at the first time, but Israel was chosen as a country of the priest of God and was made to carry a role to introduce the effect to people of other countries when Jahweh was their God. Therefore at first, they had to hear words of God. In this sense, there was a prophet as a witness of being people of selection for a long time. However, there is a more basic meaning in existence of prophet. In the times, the times, Israel was taught the way of life by God, and has been fixed as people of selection, a country of the priest. While it was extremely changeable, God appointed a prophet of a crowd going on a trip to Cannan from Egypt to the occasions, and he led them. A prophet was able to continue from Moses to Joshua, but in total, it cannot say the genealogy yet, and it seems to have been an isolated appearance.

Israel was not the developing country already as one race / country, in a meaning similar to countries of the circumference. And the message of God to Israel had clear directionality that they should return to the origin as people of selection, and the message was continued. It became the appearance to prophets that was not isolated, and words of God were to begin to work through a prophet group. I touched Elijah experienced a new encounter with God last week, and a prophet group which was smashed by Jezebel was able to reorganize, however after this, the name of Elijah did not come out too much. Perhaps Elijah prayed in the rear and taught and would support them. In the above that Elijah was one of prophets, it seems he would be a first person that a prophet was active as the genealogy.

U Anger of the prophet

It is 21:1-29, but because it is long, I will talk about the whole in a word.
"Now it came about after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard which was in Jezreel beside the palace of Aab king of Samaria."(1), and there is it. It is quiet scenery that a vineyard is in the neighbor of a palace. Ahab wanted that vineyard for his vegetables field, but the owner Jezreelite Naboth declined it with saying "The Lord forbid me that I should give you the inheritance of my fathers." Jezreel person, he was a progeny of Issachar group which assumed inheritance from the beginning, and "the inheritance of ancestors" was the meaning that land distributed to every tribe, family was given by God when Israel entered Cannan. Therefore Naboth handed nobody all the land and it was the same about all Israeli people. Such sense would be not enough in Ahab. Jezebel put up a person to give false evidence that "He cursed God and King.", and she entrapped Naboth for Ahab who sulked like a child because his wish was declined. In Israel, the person who cursed God was the same for punishment of a stone-throwing celebration and, he was thrown a stone from every direction and died.

And when a vineyard was going to be owned of Ahab, there were words of God to Elijah. "Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who is in Samaria; behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth where he has gone down to take possession of it. And you shall speak to him, saying......" (18-19) Elijah rebuked Ahab who encountered him with the words of God thus, "I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do evil in the sight of the Lord, 'Behold, I will bring evil upon you, and will utterly sweep you away, and will cut off from Ahab every male, both bond and free in Israel; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, because of the provocation with which you have provoked Me to anger, and because you have made Israel sin.' And of Jezebel also has the Lord spoken, saying, 'The dogs shall eat Jezebel in the district of Jezreel.' The one belonging to Ahab, who dies in the city, the dogs shall eat, and the one who dies in the field the birds of heaven shall eat."(20-24). In here, words of Elijah and words of God mingled and they were confused a little, perhaps, there would be great anger of Elijah to Ahab. Therefore a message of God and his message messed among him, and somebody of a prophet group would just write it down in it. And editors of Kings added it to here more. "Surely there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do evil in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife incited him. ..."(25-26) After this, this prophecy was realized.

V Our life

I looked at Chapter 21 briefly, but want to think about that meaning.
At Verse 1, there is it "Now it came about after these things,". For these words, the article of Chapter 21 is thought to be an event after activity of prophets of Chapter 20, but it will not be necessary to be concerned with these words. Reporter of Kings edited a record of scattered prophets originally, but it is thought that it was edited as original form. Therefore, it will be suitable here to translate "by the way". Why I say such a thing? Because it seems that time order of Chapter 20 and Chapter 21 was replaced. The Greek reason of the Old Testament (It is called Septuagint, and most of quotation to New Testament is quoted from it.) became the order replaced.

In other words, it will be so.
Prophets who were survived and scattered have heard that Elijah have accused a way of Ahab to Naboth when it was a crime to God. Elijah who experienced a new encounter with God in Mount Sinai came back to Israel and took a contact with some prophets and would live in their hideout together. An encounter with Elisha of 19:19-21 suggests it, and it seems to convey circumstances of the meantime that a prophet had a confrontation with Ahab about Naboth in Chapter 21 as a record. As for Elijah, it reached to other prophets, and they gathered again. A prophet group was forced to dissolution from persecution of Jezebel and, so to speak, became the form that yielded to the power of the state, but the action of Elijah as a prophet in Chapter 21 was resistance to such a power, so that how much Ahab and Jezebel have power, but a message reached that words of God exceed it. We of the present age must establish it as a matter of the faith that we cannot leave that point.

I want to think it.
Why would the editors of Kings replace this article abandoning important time order? "Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the evil in his says,"(29) This seems the thing which was told to soothe furious Elijah. The anger of Elijah was anger of God. Therefore God have been pacified the anger by oneself. There was pity of God here, and, in fact, there was this for the purpose of handling of this article of editors of Kings, and it would be his faith. And this leads to the Gospel of the cross of Jesus. It is right to have come out of pity of God to us that Jesus died on the cross for our crime. It is here. "Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,"(T Peter 1:3) We want to hear that the message told through the genealogy of the prophet is a message from God to regret our life.
